SEEKING

AEA and Non-Union Actors of all ages, identities, ethnicities, and genders, as well as artists with disabilities for A Red Orchid Theatre’s 2024/25 Season. See BREAKDOWNS section below for specific roles. All roles will be understudied, and submissions may also be considered for understudy roles.

AEA: $386.25/week 
Non-Union: $200/week 

 

INSTRUCTIONS/PREPARATION FOR IN-PERSON AUDITION

Please prepare one (1) contemporary monologue no more than two (2) minutes in length. We may or may not ask you for a 2nd if needed or as time permits. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

 

INSTRUCTIONS/PREPARATION FOR DIGITAL AUDITION SUBMISSION

Please prepare and self-tape one (1) contemporary monologue no more than two (2) minutes in length. Self-tapes should be submitted as links. YouTube Unlisted Links or Vimeo Links are preferred. Please make sure anyone with the link may view. Self-tapes submitted with passwords or other restrictions may not be considered.   • JAMIL: 30s through 50s. Dad. Middle Eastern Male. ESPECIALLY SEEKING PALESTINIAN MEN OR MEN OF PALESTINIAN DESCENT.
  • DEMA: Teens through 20s. Daughter. Half white and half Middle Eastern. Around 13 years old. ESPECIALLY SEEKING PALESTINIAN YOUNG WOMEN OR YOUNG WOMEN OF PALESTINIAN DESCENT.
  • ALI: Child. Son. Half white and half Middle Eastern. Around 8 years old. ESPECIALLY SEEKING PALESTINIAN BOYS/ GIRLS OR BOYS/ GIRLS OF PALESTINIAN DESCENT.
  • NEIL: 50s. Bonnie’s older brother. Hell’s Angel. Vet. ALSO PLAYS MARK. ALREADY CAST, SEEKING UNDERSTUDY.

“Dema’s life is upended when her Palistinian-American family moves from Las Vegas to Ohio. While Dema rapidly approaches puberty and the first Gulf War intensifies, her father Jamil’s menal health deteriorates. The world around her gets physically and emotionally darker as truths are revealed and everything around her shatters.”

A Red Orchid’s rehearsal and performance spaces are not ADA-Compliant and both spaces require stairs for entry (Approx. 3 steps for entry to performance space and 21 steps to the 2nd Floor rehearsal space). Reasonable accommodation will be provided upon request. In-Person Audition space at Actors’ Equity Association is on the ground floor and requires no steps for entry.
