A message from Ensemble Member Sadieh Rifai:
Dear friend,
We have been hard at work here at A Red Orchid Theatre as we prepare to open our 32nd Season! If we haven’t had the pleasure of meeting before, my name is Sadieh Rifai and I am an Ensemble Member. I’m delighted and so proud that my first full-length play, The Cave, will have its world premiere this January.

I became a part of A Red Orchid in 2019 and one of my favorite things about this organization is how it supports its artists and provides opportunities to try new things and expand our artistry. The Cave was commissioned by the company in 2022 and, as a semi-autobiographical piece, is very near and dear to my heart. With its production on the horizon, we’ve gathered a truly astounding team which includes Ensemble Members Kirsten Fitzgerald, Guy Van Swearingen, Natalie West, John Judd, and Mike Durst alongside guest artists from Chicago and beyond. To have the chance to tell my family’s story with my artistic family, means so much to me and I can’t wait to share it with you as well.
As we head towards 2025, we have set a goal to raise $32,000 in support of our 32nd Season and its incredible artists by December 31. From our productions of The Cave and Six Men Dressed Like Joseph Stalin, to our free Taste of Red reading series, and Incubator program that fosters experimentation and emerging artists, we relish getting to create unique, risky, and thought-provoking work in Chicago and we simply can’t do it without you. I hope you’ll consider a gift to A Red Orchid Theatre this month. Whether it’s $32, $320, or $3,200, please know that your support makes a tremendous difference for us and our intimate theatre in the heart of Old Town.
We look forward to seeing you at the theatre again this winter. May your holiday season be merry and bright!

Sadieh Rifai
Ensemble Member and Playwright of The Cave
P.S. If you haven’t already, there’s still time to subscribe to our 32nd Season and ensure your seat to both of our productions this year!
