A Statement from A Red Orchid Theatre
We at A Red Orchid mourn the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and so many more who have been murdered in acts of racial violence — all too frequently by those charged to protect and serve.
The violence being perpetrated against Black people in our country is senseless, despicable, dehumanizing, institutional, and we are all complicit in its continuing.
As a company, we are committed to honoring the unrelinquishing human spirit. To practicing what we preach about social compassion and honesty. To staying focused on the truth, to listening, to learning, to doing the work, to reflecting, to supporting those who have been and are being systematically ignored and destroyed.
We stand with our Black artists and the Black community at large.
As artists and humans, we are in the fight to end systemic racism in this country and to lift-up all of humanity. We will fight. We will give. We will make calls. We will say their names.
And we ourselves will change.
