Front-of-House/Box Office Associates

A Red Orchid Theatre (AROT) is an ensemble of artists dedicated to the proliferation of live theatre in the modern world. We believe that theatre is the greatest sustenance for the human spirit and approach our work with a palpable sense of social compassion, aesthetic rigor, and honesty. By presenting new plays from all over the world and by reviving insightful works from the past that bear new relevance today, we aim to seek out and build new audiences for the modern stage.  

 

A Red Orchid Theatre is looking for Box Office Associates to assist with front of house for our winter production, In Quietness (January 11 – March 3, 2024), with the possibility of staying on through our spring production, Turret (April 25 – June 16). This position reports to the Audience Services Manager and will be largely responsible for providing an exceptional and welcoming front-of-house experience for all patrons and guests who enter our space. The run-of-show schedule is as follows: Thursday evenings at 7:00pm, Friday evenings at 7:00pm, Saturday afternoons at 3:00pm and evenings at 7:00pm, as well as Sunday afternoons at 3:00pm.  

 

FOH shifts take place from 5:00-9:00pm for evening performances (the one exception is Opening Night which takes place at 6:00pm. Those box office hours would be 4:00-8:00pm) and 1:00-5:00pm for matinee performances.

Shift duties include:

  • Answering and returning patron phone calls 
  • Cleaning and lobby prep 
  • Training Saints volunteers on their responsibilities  
  • Checking in patrons for performances and providing any pertinent information 
  • Selling walk up tickets 
  • Communicating with stage management before & during performances on house & lobby status  
  • Concessions sales 
  • Assisting patrons as they exit the theatre 

Job Requirements

Successful candidates will:

  • Be positive-minded, team-oriented, diligent, organized, timely and detail-driven  
  • Embrace and admire theatre and the arts’ capacity for inspiration and positive change  
  • Remain committed to the values and mission of our organization  
  • Proficiency in AudienceView is a bonus but not a requirement 
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal skills 
  • Have some prior customer service or box office experience 
  • Have evening & weekend availability

Salary

This is a parttime position that pays $15/hr.
